INFRARED SAUNA BENEFITS

Wellistics is south Chicagoland's premiere infrared sauna studio offering full-spectrum infrared sauna sessions in a luxurious spa-like setting. Guests can enjoy a 30 to 45-minute infrared sauna session to promote detoxification, weight loss, relaxation and stress relief, and a host of other health benefits.

Each of our private sauna sessions also includes Chromotherapy Light Therapy to help encourage deep healing while activating the sweat glands and eliminating toxins.

Why Infrared is Better Than a Conventional Sauna

Infrared is an invisible form of energy that is accepted by the body as heat. The heat from an infrared sauna has the ability to penetrate the surface of the skin and gently heat the body from within, providing your body with overall radiant warmth.

A conventional steam sauna simply heats the air around you, creating a very hot and uncomfortable environment that can sometimes be difficult to breathe in.

Infrared saunas use unique infrared heating technology to radiate gentle infrared heat directly to the body's tissue which in turn allows the sauna cabin environment to remain at a more tolerable lower temperature than conventional steam or hot rock sauna. Whereas conventional steam saunas climb to temperatures between 185°F and 195°F, infrared sauna temperatures are more tolerable, typically ranging between 125°F and 158°F.

One liter of sweat lost during a conventional steam sauna session contains approximately 3% toxins; in an infrared sauna, it contains up to 20% toxins.

THE BENEFITS OF INFRARED SAUNAS

Sweating is the body’s safe and natural way to detoxify, heal, and stay healthy. Infrared heat therapy benets the body by heating it directly causing a rise in core body temperature resulting in a deep, detoxifying sweat at the cellular level, where toxins reside. The average person sweats out 20% toxins and 80% water in an infrared sauna vs. only 3% toxins and 97% water while in a conventional sauna.

Infrared heat penetrates tissue, joints, and muscles to relieve anything from minor aches and pains to chronic pain conditions such as arthritis and fibromyalgia. Pain management professionals incorporate infrared heat therapy into treatment plans to decrease pain and muscle spasms and to speed up recovery time. Research on pain has shown evidence of heat responsive pain which encompasses several common pain conditions that can be specifically treated with the use of infrared heat therapy.

Studies have shown that an infrared sauna session can burn upwards of 600 calories while you relax. As the body works to cool itself, there is a substantial increase in heart rate, cardiac output, and metabolic rate causing the body to burn more calories.

Infrared saunas induce a deep sweat to make the heart pump faster, which in turn increases blood flow, lowers blood pressure and helps circulation. Sunlighten’s Solocarbon heaters were shown in a clinical scientific study by the University of Missouri Kansas City in 2005 to lower blood pressure from a 30-minute infrared sauna session three times per week.

Heating the muscles with infrared rays produces an increase in blood flow similar to that seen during exercise. Regular infrared sauna use—especially in the mid infrared range—can significantly stimulate blood flow up to twice the normal rate. Blood flow during infrared sauna use has been reported to rise from a normal rate of 5-7 quarts per minute to as much as 13 quarts per minute.

The near infrared wavelength (sometimes referred to as Red Light Therapy) is the most effective wavelength for healing the epidermis and dermis layers of the skin. Near infrared treatments stimulate collagen production to reduce wrinkles and improve overall skin tone.

Near infrared therapy stimulates the circulatory system and more fully oxygenate the body’s cells. Better blood circulation means more toxins ow from the cellular level to the skin’s surface which improves cell health, aids in muscle recovery, and strengthens the immune system.

Scientific research conducted by NASA concluded that near infrared therapy greatly enhances the skin’s healing process by promoting faster cell regeneration, wound healing, and human tissue growth. Human cell growth increases to repair wounds and prevent infection.

Unlike conventional saunas which operate at extremely harsh temperatures, infrared is a safe, gentle, soothing and therapeutic heat that promotes relaxation and improved sleep. Infrared sauna benefits include therapy that helps you relax while receiving an invigorating deep tissue sweat, leaving you fully refreshed after each session.
